"DuBois Central Catholic gave me more than just an education. It gave me the foundation to flourish. When I reflect on my journey from high school to college, I can see just how well DuBois Central Catholic prepared me for the next chapter of my life. The transition to PennWest Clarion felt natural because I arrived on campus not only with academic knowledge, but with confidence, strong values, and a clear sense of who I am.
DCC’s faith-based environment was an important part of my experience. Whether it was starting our day with prayer, participating in service activities, or learning in a community built on kindness and respect, I was constantly encouraged to grow not just as a student, but as a person. Those faith-centered values have stayed with me and continue to guide me in college. They help me face challenges with resilience, treat others with compassion, and stay grounded in what truly matters.
One of the most impactful parts of my education at DCC was the small class sizes. I was never just a number, I was known, supported, and encouraged every step of the way. The one-on-one learning I experienced allowed me to truly understand the material and to ask questions freely. I always felt comfortable speaking up, and I knew my teachers genuinely cared about my success. That personal connection and encouragement helped me develop confidence in my academic abilities and taught me how to advocate for myself, something that has been essential in college.
Beyond the classroom, DCC gave me the opportunity to explore my interests and grow as a leader. I was actively involved in stage productions like Into the Woods, where I developed creativity, confidence, and teamwork that continue to benefit me in college. These experiences taught me how to collaborate, communicate, and perform under pressure, skills I use every day in my current roles.
Principal Mrs. Karrie Miller and President Mrs. Gretchen Caruso led with care and consistency, creating an environment where students were supported, challenged, and encouraged to become their best selves. Because of the atmosphere they cultivated, I left DCC feeling prepared to take on leadership opportunities and make the most of my college experience.
Now at Clarion, I am thriving. I am a Communications major involved in several organizations that allow me to lead and give back. I currently serve as the Vice President of Operations for my sorority, Tri Sigma, where I help organize events that support prematurity awareness through our partnership with the March of Dimes. I am also the President of Eagle Media Productions, a student-run media group, and I manage the social media accounts for the Clarion Community Learning Workshop, which provides tutoring support for local kids. I’ve been honored to receive recognition through the Honors Program and other academic achievements, and I credit DCC for helping me build the skills and self-belief I needed to reach this point.
Looking back, I am truly grateful for everything DCC gave me. It shaped me in ways that go beyond the classroom. It gave me a strong foundation in faith, leadership, creativity, and personal growth that continues to support me every day."
