DuBois Central Catholic's Run/Walk for Someone Special

DuBois Central Catholic School held their second annual Run/Walk for Someone Special on Thursday, April 4.  The event was coordinated by theology teacher Becky Dutra and ARC director Carla Ferko. Senior class members Lydia Morgan, Kourtney Zatsick and Raegan Porter did a great job emceeing the event in the school gym. Carla Ferko gave a short speech thanking the students and explaining the work of ARC. She recognized Andrew Reiter and Thadyus Murray as the top fundraisers for the event for the second year in a row. ARC representatives Will Cuba, Zack Walker and Jennifer Roberts drew cheers as they thanked the students for their support and participated in the walk.  Altogether, DCC students raised over $2,000 for the ARC of Jefferson and Clearfield Counties’ Camp Friendship program.

Students and teachers from our school also regularly help out at Camp Friendship, which is a free summer camp for area residents who are enrolled in special education services or have been enrolled in the past. The camp offers art, music, physical education, and nature study classes, along with organized group activities such as a talent show, rocket blasting, Carnegie Science Center visits, horseback riding, and swimming.

ARC will hold its community wide annual Run/Walk for Someone Special Saturday, April 14, at the Sykesville Town Hall.  All are invited to come out and show their support!  To learn more about the ARC of Jefferson and Clearfield Counties and the programs they offer, please visit their website at https://www.jcarc.org/
