Events & Activities

Below is a listing of the many events and activities available for all DuBois Central Catholic students (K-12.) These activities promote community, responsibility, learning, leadership and fun. Because of the Pandemic some of these events are adapted or rescheduled as necessary. In addition to these opportunities, there are many clubs and organizations for middle and high school students. Please click here to view a listing of clubs and organizations.
 
Bingo for Books (Elementary School)
Involvement in this activity is open to students in pre-K through 5th grade. Students participate in games of Bingo to win a book prize of their choice.
 
Book Fair (Elementary School)
Students participate in activities to encourage a love of reading, culminating in the opportunity to purchase reading materials that include some of the most popular titles and authors.
 
Cardinal-thon (Elementary School)
This is the school’s largest PTG fund-raiser based on athletic activity stations for students in grades pre-K through 5.
 
Carnegie Science Day (Elementary School)
Involvement in this activity is open to students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Students participate in hands-on science activities brought in by the Carnegie Science Center, hosted by the high school science department.
 
Charity  – Giving Trees (Elementary School)
Students in grades Kindergarten through 5th choose a charity by grade level and collect donated items for their charity.
 
Christmas Program (Elementary School)
Students in Pre-k through grade 5 participate in a play/choral presentation.
 
Festival of the Arts (Middle & High School)
Spring display of visual arts and performing arts
 
Field Day (Elementary School)
End of the year school Picnic for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade.
 
Food Drive (Elementary School)
Students in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade collect donations for the local food pantries during the holiday season.
 
May Crowning (Elementary School)
Students in grades 3 & 5 lead a celebration in honor of Mary.
Preschool Mothers and Fathers Day Celebrations
Preschool students prepare to give their parents special art work and songs to celebrate their special days.
 
School Dances (High School)
Dances include Prom, Cardinal Ball, Sadie Hawkins, Freshman Welcome, Senior Farewell, and Homecoming.
 
Trips Abroad (Middle & High School)
There is an annual opportunity for students and their parents to travel – a different country is chosen each year.
 
United Way Day (Middle & High School)
Students participate in activities (such as collecting donations, games,  and acting out skits) to raise awareness of the importance of meeting the needs of people in the community through the United Way. This event is sponsored by High School Student Council and there is interaction between grades for recreation and competition.
 
Veteran’s Day Celebration (Elementary, Middle & High School)
Students throughout the school participate in a liturgy and ceremony honoring past and present veterans. This includes hosting breakfast with honorees, creating a remembrance wall, and student lead Mass.
