This year’s school musical will be Anything Goes. Composed by Cole Porter, Anything Goes focuses on an ocean liner bound from New York to London, and follows the antics of Billy Crocker as he tries to win the affections of Hope Harcourt. Hope, however, is already engaged to Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. Billy Crocker will need the help of nightclub singer Reno Sweeney and Moonface Martin to win Hope’s love.
“It is classic, old-school Broadway,” Carol Korthaus, said. “Lots of big musical numbers, tap dancing, and plenty of comedy” Anything Goes will be directed by Nicki Forsyth and produced by Carol Korthaus. Sara Huegler, DCC sophomore, will be using her years of dance training to develop and lead the choreography.
Casting was done before Christmas, and students have begun practicing after school. The cast list is at the end of this article.
Set designers Kris Wingert and Dan Youngdahl have already begun the ship design and decorations for the other scenes that will transport us back to the first part of the 20th century.
DCC’s Anything Goes is currently scheduled to hit the stage Friday, March 25th, Saturday, March 26th, Sunday, March 27th, Friday April 1st, and Saturday, April 2nd. Mark your calendar! Ticket information will be made available at the beginning of March.
