DCC Faculty of the Week: Elaine Jacob

Elaine Jacob holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and is the Treasurer on the Board of Directors for Pentz Run Youth Services.  She has been a familiar face at DCC for some time as her daughters, Faith and Hope attend DCC.  Elaine assisted Joseph Lesnick, Elementary Librarian/Music instructor for six years until he retired.

When the opportunity to become Elementary Librarian came about, Elaine seized the moment. “I could not wait to teach students how the fiction & non-fiction (Dewey Decimal System) books are cataloged and to choose books to read to the students which would get them excited about books! I also could not wait to implement the “open door policy” for any students to be able to visit the Library on Monday, Wednesday or Friday even though it may not be their Library day. The students are now able to return and check out new books during the week.”

Elaine’s vision for the students is that they will have opportunities to explore the Library, locate books they are interested in, and enjoy their time in the Library.

With a sparkle in her eye, Elaine finished by saying, “What I love about teaching is getting the opportunity to work with these kids and being able to encourage the love of reading.”
