Studying the Nervous System

DCC’s Parker Meholick and Tristan Engle explore the process of adaptation in science as Parker stacks coins on Tristan’s forearm, initially felt by Tristan, but over time his sensory receptors adapt to the constant pressure of the coins until they are no longer felt but only seen. After performing each activity, students had to document their findings. Senses Lab activities such as this one provided students with hands-on learning about the intricate workings of the nervous system.
