DCC Awarded Two Grants from the Diocese of Erie

The Administration of DuBois Central Catholic has been notified that two grant proposals submitted to the Diocese of Erie by Central faculty members for professional development have been approved.  The monies were awarded through the newly-established Excellence in Catholic Education Grant Committee in Erie.

Headmaster Gretchen Caruso explains, “I applaud the efforts of the faculty in pursuing available grant monies to expand teaching techniques and explore curriculum enhancements which ultimately benefit our students’ learning opportunities.”

One grant will provide two scholarships to attend the Pennsylvania Educational Technology Expo and Conference (PETE & C), held in February at the Hershey Lodge & Convention Center.  Caruso says, “More than two DCC teachers were already scheduled to attend this event, so receiving the grant monies helps keep our operating budget fiscally sound.”

Another grant will send two DCC elementary teachers to the “Get Your Teach On” conference in Washington, DC, March 26-28.

Caruso adds, “When our teachers return from a conference, sharing their new-found knowledge with other staff is set-up during our in-service days and/or after school, so as many educators as possible can benefit from each conference.”
