DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC ANNOUNCES IMPORTANT ‘BACK-TO-SCHOOL’ NEWS
The Administration of DuBois Central Catholic announces important ‘back-to-school’ news for the upcoming 2017-2018 school year. The first day of classes for K-12 students at DuBois Central Catholic will be Tuesday, August 29, according to Headmaster Gretchen Caruso.
According to Secondary Principal, Dawn Bressler, an orientation for new DCC students entering 7th grade and above will be held on Tuesday, August 22, at 6 p.m. An orientation for incoming 6th graders will be held on Thursday, August 24, at 6 p.m. Parents and guardians of the newly-enrolled students are expected to attend with their children, according to Caruso. Both secondary orientations will take place in the auditorium.
Bressler adds, “Students are asked to bring their laptops to the orientation so that each student’s technology can be set up prior to the first day of school…while parents can learn about Plus Portals.” Locker assignments and schedules will also be distributed at each orientation.
DCC’s elementary school will be hosting several orientations for students and parents. There will be a Kindergarten Orientation on Tuesday, August 22, from 9 -10 a.m. The annual Kindergarten Camp Day will be held on Thursday, August 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. In addition, there will be an orientation for 4th and 5th grade students and parents on Wednesday, August 23, from 6 – 7 p.m. in the auditorium.
Caruso adds, “DCC’s pre-school orientations will be held over several days, beginning on Thursday, August 31. Enrolled families have been notified of their date and time.
According to Caruso, Teacher In-service Days include Monday, August 21, Tuesday, August 22, and Wednesday, August 23. Included in these days will be various faculty meetings by educational level, as well as Nearpod technology training.
