STAR Appreciation Luncheon Held for EITC Donors

DuBois Central Catholic hosted an Appreciation Luncheon on March 2, 2017, for local participants in the state’s EITC Program.  President of DCC, Msgr. Charles Kaza (foreground) and Headmaster Michael Armanini (back) led the conversations during the luncheon.

According to organizer Sharon Varischetti, recognizing and thanking those that support the STAR Foundation and its efforts to provide tuition assistance for Central families is so very important.

State Representative Cris Dush commented to the group, “Because of your generosity and commitment to this program, you are helping to educate your future work force.”

Varischetti adds, “Since the program was approved in 2001 by an overwhelming bipartisan majority, Pennsylvania became the first state to pass an education tax credit aimed at corporations, and subsequently, DuBois Central Catholic has been able to award over 4,000 STAR scholarships to qualifying families over these many years.“

She adds, “A record 71% of current DCC students received a STAR Scholarship for the 2016-17 school year, which proves the importance of the EITC program.”
