                                                                 ARTWORK DEPICTS THE AMERICAN FLAG

DCC Art Teacher, Mrs. Caitlin Smith, assists three seniors as they put the finishing touches on their 3 foot by 5 foot American Flag design on plywood.  The flag was created using in excess of 5000 plastic infantry men, each hand-painted and glued individually on the flag template.  According to Smith, the white stars alone account for 250 miniatures.   Students of Tara Kramer’s 7th and 8th grade social studies sections sanded the wood base.  Kramer’s brother, Christopher Margle, donated the plastic infantry men for the school’s cross-curricular project in celebration of Veterans Day.
