COMMON MYTHS ABOUT CHOOSING A COLLEGE MAJOR

YOUNG MEN AGES 18 to 25 REGISTER WITH THE SELECTIVE SERVICE
Within 30 days of your 18th birthday, young men are required to register for the Selective Service. If 30 days have already passed since your 18th birthday, register immediately, either online at the Selective Service website or at your post office. Although the Selective Service will accept a late registration, the longer you wait, the longer you are breaking the law and jeopardizing your future benefits. If you fail to register, you cannot qualify for federal student grants or loans for college, job training benefits, and many state and federal jobs. If prosecuted, you could be sent to prison for up to 5 years and may be fined up to $250,000. For further information, contact Mr. Samanka in Guidance (814) 372-3880.
PARENTS -- EVER WONDER WHAT YOUR CHILDREN ARE LOOKING AT ONLINE?
The results from a recent survey from the Rochester Institute of Technology reported that 30% of children in grades 4 to 6 said they are 'completely unsupervised' when they go online. To monitor what your children are looking at, go to OnlineFamily.Norton and set up an account with names and icons for your children, then download this application to your PC or MAC. You will be able to track Internet activities in real time on any Web-Connected device. Thanks to Norton, this is all free. (Information collected from April 17, 2010 'family circle' page 15)
