ANTHONY 'BUBS' SUPLIZIO RECEIVES DUBOIS AREA JAYCEES AWARD
A member of DCC's Class of 1965, Suplizio was awarded the Distinguished Service Award, presented annually by the DuBois Area Jaycess. The award was given at an event held at the DuBois Country Club. The front page article in the Tri-County Sunday edition on January 29, 2012 lists Suplizio's many accomplishments that met the award's criteria: community service, success in one's profession, and service to God and Church. Some of the things that earned him this honor: Navy veteran, father of five, UPS employee, local fireman (serving as Fire Chief twice; plus president & vp of the Fire Department), 30 years an usher at mass, and a volunteer for many non-profit events, such as the United Way, throughout the community.
PIFER WORKS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN
Ian Pifer, a member of the Class of 2006, graduated from Gannon University in 2010. Since graduation, he has been employed by the Gertrude A. Barber National Institute, located in Erie, PA. This institute serves special needs children throughout the area.
DCC ALUM ORDAINED PRIEST OF THE DIOCESE OF PITTSBURGH:FATHER ADAM VERONA
Fr. Adam Verona, DCC Class of 2000, was ordained a priest on June 25, 2011, by Bishop David Zubik, at St. Paul Cathedral in Pittsburgh's Oakland neighborhood. A native of Reynoldsville, Verona graduated from Gannon University in 2004 with a degree in history and certification as a paralegal. Ready to enter Duquesne University's law school, he decided to try the seminary and entered the priestly formation program in 2005. He then earned a master's degree from Duquesne in May, 2007, and was ordained to the diaconate on October 7, 2010, at St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. Father Verona's chalice was willed to him by his former pastor and mentor, the late Msgr. John Mignot. Fr. Verona will complete his graduate studies at the North American College in Rome beginning on September 23, 2011.

Wow! DCC has authors galore! Just posted on the alumni association's Facebook Account is that DCC graduate Luke Marusiak (Class of 1980)is a published author. His work is entitled <i>Marx and Ford </i> (Xlibris Publishing). Another DCC grad, PJ Piccirillo (Class of 1984)is also a published author...<i>Heartwood </i> (Middleton Books.)
WILSON, DCC CLASS OF 2007, JOINS ESPN RADIO
Cody B. Wilson, Class of 2007, graduated with honors from the University of South Florida, receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communications, specializing in Broadcast News. He has accepted a position with ESPN Radio in Largo, Florida.
CLASS OF 1999 GRAD SPEAKS AT DCC'S ANNUAL ACADEMIC BANQUET
Dr. Crystal delaTorre Zellefrow, Class of 1999, was the guest speaker at Central's 2011 National Honor Society event recognizing student academic achievements. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, majoring in Molecular Biology and Chemistry. She continued her education at Yale University, earning her master's and doctorate in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry. Currently, Dr. Zellefrow is a research scientist at Thermo Fisher Scientific, the Life Sciences Research Division in Pittsburgh.
POTASH, CLASS OF 1966, INDUCTED INTO GANNON UNIVERSITY'S 'ATHLETICS HALL OF FAME"
Larry Potash, DCC Class of '66, played baseball for Gannon University. While at Gannon, he produced the school's lowest single-season baseball ERA and pitched Gannon's first-ever no-hitter in 1968. Potash is the only pitcher in school history to throw three shutouts in a single season. He was drafted by the New York Mets in 1970 and played two seasons in the minor leagues before an injury cut his career short.
GASBARRE'S "HOW TO LOVE AN AMERICAN MAN" TO HIT BOOKSTORES IN AUGUST 2011
Author Krissy Gasbarre, DCC Class of 1998, received an outstanding review from Kirkus, the world's toughest book critics, on her memoir about the role her grandparents have played in her life, especially now her recently-widowed Grandma Glo becoming her 'ideal relationship guru.' She is a culture and lifestyle contributor for various women's magazines and a celebrity interviewer. She currently resides in New York City.
DETTORE SELECTED TO SERVE AS ATHLETIC TRAINER FOR STEELERS SPRING TRAINING CAMP
Jessica Dettore, DCC Class of '99, has been an athletic trainer at Mount Lebanon High School for many years, serving as head trainer for the past two years for the following Mount Lebanon sports teams: football, boys' basketball, wrestling, and lacrosse. Recently, Jessica was selected to serve as a trainer at the Steelers Spring Training Camp as well as work many of the regular season home games for the Steelers. She has called Pittsburgh home for nearly 6 years.
MATT McNALLY, DCC CLASS OF '07, ACCEPTED INTO GRADUATE PROGRAM AT WVU
Matt McNally will graduate with honors in the Spring of 2011 from Washington & Jefferson College with degrees in both Psychology and English and will receive W&J's highest awards from both departments. Already accepted into the Graduate Program at West Virgnia University, he will soon begin work on his masters and doctoral degrees. While beginning his research at WVU, he has also been selected to teach WVU's Introductory Psychology course. In addition to a generous yearly stipend, McNally has also been awarded full tuition throughout his graduate study at WVU, culminating with his doctoral degree.
MATT PENTZ, DCC CLASS OF 2008, SELECTED FOR SUMMER INTERNSHIP AS SPORTS COPY EDITOR
Pentz, a junior at Ohio University, has earned an internship at the "Hartford Courant" ... the oldest newspaper in the United States ... and will reside in Hartford for the Summer of 2011. With a major in Journalism and a minor in Sports Management, Pentz also serves as the Sports Blog Editor for speakeasyohio.com. He also earned six credits during his month-long stay in Barcelona, Spain, during the Summer of 2010.

JT Arbogast, DCC Class of '94, appears as the Court Reporter on the new Southwest Airlines commercial, aired locally during the Steeler game on Saturday, January 15, 2011. DCC has been informed that the commercial can also be viewed on YouTube under the title - "SouthWest Airlines Fee Court: Reporter and Defendant".
An experienced actor of stage, film, and television, he earned his BA from Penn State and his MFA from the University of Texas at Austin. He spent 4 years as Associate Director of the National Comedy Theatre in New York. In 2008, he produced "Love Jerry", which won several awards at the New York Musical Theatre Festival.
JT's two year screenplay project is set to be filmed in West Virginia in the Summer of 2011. Based on his West Virginia roots and the love of his Grandmother, this story brings to life the challenges and the triumphs of growing old.

Father Grinnen, a member of DCC's Class of '63, resides at Mount Assisi Monastery, Loretto, PA. He earned his BA in Philosophy from St. Francis College and his Masters in Fine Arts & Theatre from West Virginia University. In addition, he earned his Masters of Divinity from St. Francis. Ordained in 1972 in the Altoona/Johnstown Diocese, Father Grinnen has enjoyed his life-long ministry...teaching!

Joseph Salandra, DCC Class of 1998, is employed as the Student Finance Manager for Argosy University, Pittsburgh. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from St. Bonaventure University, Olean, NY. SMITH ATTENDS WORLD'S LARGEST PLASTICS CONFERENCE IN GERMANY
David Smith, DCC Class of 2007, was selected among his peers to attend this prestigious world conference in Germany. Smith, a senior at Penn State Behrend, is a Plastics Engineer major, with a minor in Supply Chain Management. He recently completed a summer internship at GOJO Industries in Akron, Ohio, where he has seven (7) invention disclosures with several patents pending.
HEIGEL WALKS RUNWAY IN NYC
Abbie Heigel, DCC Class of 2008, recently walked the runway for New York City Couture Fashion Week. She modeled at the Waldorf Astoria for designer & producer Andres Aquino. In October of 2010, she will participate in Pittsburgh Fashion Week. Regularly featured in Pittsburgh Fashion Magazine, Heigel is currently a senior at Point Park University.
STEPHEN PAUL TONEY HELPS LOCAL PARISH CELEBRATE A MILESTONE
Toney, a member of Central's Class of '83, spent 300 hours restoring the 1910 Hook & Hastings Opus Organ at St. Catherine of Siena Parish in DuBois. Toney, a classically trained organist who studied music at Mercyhurst College and the Juilliard School of Music, also helped the local parish celebrate this milestone (100th Anniversary) with a free concert. The organ is very rare, with only a few left in the USA.

Zachary Burley and Patrick Heath, both members of Central's Class of 2007, were inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society. This society encourages and honors academic achievement in the study of business. Both students are enrolled in the AJ Palumbo School of Business at Duquesne University.
SUMMER MAYERS EARNS MASTERS DEGREE
DCC alum Summer Mayers earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts from Allegheny College in May 2008, and she recently received her Masters Degree in Communication Studies from Edinboro University where she was awarded a full-paying assistantship. While attending Edinboro, she also was an active member in the Public Relations Student Society of America.
POMPEII RECEIVES FELLOWSHIP TO ATTEND HYDROLOGICAL INSTITUTE IN NEW YORK CITY
Brian Pompeii, DCC Class of 2003, has been awarded a fellowship that includes a generous stipend, housing, and travel expenses to participate in a City University of New York Summer Institute...devoted to tackling key hydrological questions. The event will be from June 1 to July 16. The institute is a collaborative event hosted by many Eastern institutions of higher learning, including MIT, Princeton, Penn State, Cornell, and others. Pompeii, a doctoral candidate at the Arizona State University, is the son of Jim and DCC teacher Kelle Pompeii.

DANIEL TRUNZO JOINS CLARION UNIVERSITY BAND
Daniel (Class of 2009) is a freshman music education major. He is now a member of the Golden Eagle Marching Band. According to a press release sent to DuBois Central Catholic, Trunzo is one of 85 musicians selected for this honor.
AARON FITZPATRICK EARNS INTERNSHIP WITH THE "TRANSITIONS PROGRAM" AT CLARION UNIVERSITY
A son of Paula and Tim Fitzpatrick, Aaron (Class of 2003)has been appointed to a graduate internship at Clarion University. He received his undergraduate degree from Clarion where he was active in both the Young Democrats and Political Science Association; he also was a two-time Dean's List student, according to the press release from the university sent to DCC on September 23, 2009.

A son of Paula and Tim Fitzpatrick of DuBois, Joel (Class of 2005)will be a lab assistant dealing with the use of audio and video equipment and editing suites. He received his undergraduate degree from Clarion, where he was President of the Clarion Young Democrats in 2008-2009, leading the organization to the 2009 "Chapter of the Year Award" from the Pennsylvania Federation of College Democrats.
