ELEVEN FACTS
FACT #1
Catholic schools have been
educating students in the DuBois area since 1889
when St. Catherine’s School first opened its doors
to students.
FACT #2
The predecessor of Central
Catholic High School, St. Catherine’s High School,
was one of the first 4 year accredited parochial
high schools in the state of Pennsylvania, receiving
that distinction in 1915.
FACT #3
The DuBois Area Catholic School System educates
students pre-school through 12th grade. Central
Catholic High School, Central Catholic Middle
School, and Central Catholic Elementary School are
accredited by the Middle States Association of
Colleges & Schools. Also, we are a member
school of the National
Network of Partnership Schools.
FACT #4
The DuBois Area Catholic
School System employs 52 professional educators and
15 support staff. The system currently
has an enrollment of approximately 515 students.

Students have access to 4 IBM Labs. In addition to
computers in the classrooms, traveling lap top labs
are used throughout the complex. Over 300
computers exist in the educational complex,
with yearly updating of hardware and software.

Central Catholic offers an Advanced Standing Program
whereby qualified juniors
and seniors can earn college credit through
coursework offered by Central teachers.
College credit is given through St. Francis
University and the
Butler Community College. Students may also attend
Penn State DuBois during the regular school day.

Central Catholic
established the first middle school in the Diocese
of Erie and has served as the pilot program for such
ventures in other parts of the diocese.
FACT #8
Central Catholic
student scores on the “Stanford Tests” and the “Test
of Achievement & Proficiency” rank high in all areas
compared to the national averages.

Over the last
four years,
95.5%
of graduates enrolled in post-secondary education.
Central’s graduation rate is above
99%.

For
the 2009-2010 school year, students in the DuBois
Area Catholic School System received over $458,000
in direct financial aid. Over 38 percent of the
student body received some form of financial aid for
the current year.

Students attending the DuBois Area Catholic School
System come from a variety of socio-economic,
ethnic, and religious backgrounds as do members of
the faculty. Respect for all faiths is fostered
while still maintaining the Catholic tradition.
