About Us

We are a Pre-K through grade 12 facility in central Pennsylvania. Central Catholic High School was established in 1961 by the Bishop of Erie. Central Catholic Middle School was established in stages with a junior high in 1987 and the 6-8 middle school in 1995.  St. Catherine's Elementary School first opened its doors in 1889, and has now become Central Catholic Elementary.  Over the past 119 years, our school has consistently educated children with a love of Christ as well as a love of learning.

We seek to educate the whole student - body, mind, and spirit:

Body: We are highly competitive in athletics and provide numerous programs for our students including the new cooperative sports program with the Brockway School District for football. A varied number of activities are available for all students from student council to drama to sports for life. For students who have emotional or other problems, the student assistance team, known as C.A.R.E., provides help with teacher mentoring, assessment programs, and group discussions.

Mind: We strive for success. To make that possible, we cap grade size at 60 students. This small number creates a sense of community among students and permits strong teacher/student relationships. The teacher to student ratio is only 1:12. The average class size is 15 students. This allows for individualized attention and better academic focus. Our faculty is well educated and devoted to the students.

Spirit: Jesus Christ is the foundation of our school. For this reason, we provide a religious atmosphere for our students. We offer a full campus ministry program with weekly Mass, the sacrament of Penance, retreats, daily prayer, service projects and clubs, theology classes, and relationships with priests and lay teachers with strong religious convictions.

Our Philosophy

The  students faculty, parents and families of DuBois Area Catholic Elementary School form a community of faith within the K-12 Catholic Education System of the DuBois Area.  Its goal is the development of each student.  In an atmosphere of love, understanding, cooperation and freedoms, this community views each person as a sacred gift with unique abilities.  It endeavors to instill Christian values as it fosters students intellectual, social, psychological, physical, and spiritual growth within Catholic tradition.

To help the child build a personal relationship with God, a religious atmosphere permeates the overall education process.  The liturgical celebrations and religious instructions given in school complement, reinforce, and extend to religious activity at home, unifying us as a family respectful of each other's beliefs.

The student is provided with the intellectual skills necessary to function effectively in society.  Each is given the opportunity to develop according to individual potential, so tat throughout life there may be both the desire and the capabilities for continued growth.

DuBois Area Catholic Elementary School's program is designed to prepare the student to grow as a responsible Christian and American citizen and to respond successfully to the challenges of life in the church, the nation and the world.
