Hands-on Learning About Science

DCC students patiently follow their science lab directions to identify the various parts of sheep brains in order to answer correctly a series of questions about what was observed.  Since the Central Nervous System is the control center of the body not only in sheep but also in humans, dissecting sheep brains helped students enrolled in Anatomy and Physiology this semester to have a better understanding of the role of the brain and spinal cord in humans.  Dr. Amy Way adds, “One of my favorite aspects of teaching at Central is observing how the students collaborate to learn and to problem solve.”
