Congratulations to Jeannie Bojalad, Class of 1967! The award was presented by the alumni association’s president Bernie Pitrone at the annual July alumni event, held in DCC’s cafeteria on Saturday, July 15, 2017. Fellow alumni association officer Marcia Belin Muir joined in the recognition along with several members of Jeannie’s family. The evening began with an alumni mass in the school’s chapel, celebrated by Father Edward Walk, DCC’s Assistant Headmaster. Following a delicious buffet dinner and brief program of speakers, the evening concluded with music for dancing.
**Below is the wording read by Pitrone announcing Jeannie as this year’s awardee!**
This year’s recipient of the Monsignor Robert J. Reilly Distinguished Alumni Award has been involved in the mission of Catholic education since a student at St. Catherine’s Elementary School and later in high school at the first Central on Hospital Avenue.
After pursuing a degree in education, she shared her knowledge and love of kids by working in local Catholic schools for many years … and only later moving into public education.
She was instrumental in establishing the Dahrouge Family Educational Scholarship that continues to help Central grads wishing to enter the teaching profession. Without a doubt, her support of Central in so many ways has been a blessing for so many students. This year’s recipient is Jeannie Bojalad, Class of 1967!
