DuBois Central Catholic’s 56th Commencement Exercises will take place the weekend of June 3 and 4. A Baccalaureate Mass for the 24 graduates, their families and friends, will take place Saturday evening, June 3, at 6 p.m. in the auditorium. Graduation ceremonies will commence at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 4 in the gym.
Principal Dawn Bressler says, “The Class of 2017 is a driven, unique, dependable, goal-oriented, determined and dedicated close group of kids, one that I had the pleasure to not only teach but also be an administrator. Their eagerness to make school life always run well will be missed.”
Senior Class Advisor Carol Korthaus adds, “What a year we have had! Twenty-four distinctive, intelligent, competitive individuals whose personalities have affected all of us…and such incredible synergy which has made all year so memorable.”
Graduation Weekend 2017 begins with a mass Saturday evening with Reverend Father Edward Walk, Assistant Administrator, presiding along with Msgr. Charles Kaza, President of the school system, and surrounding area priests and pastors. A reception for the graduates, their families, and friends will follow the liturgy, hosted by members of the current Freshmen Class.
**Valedictorian of the Class of 2017 at DuBois Central Catholic High School is Trisha D. Gupta, daughter of Prasad and Tanya Gupta of DuBois.
** Salutatorian of the Class of 2017 at DCC is Gabrielle N. Caruso, daughter of Michael and Gretchen Caruso of DuBois.
Members of the administration will present the diplomas and announce the graduates along with their future plans. According to tradition, graduates who have distinguished themselves in various academic areas will be awarded gold honor plaques of excellence. Other established scholarships awarded each year to Central’s graduating seniors will also be announced.
The 2017 class officers are Michael Misiewicz, President; Pedar Garred, Vice-President; Trisha Gupta, Secretary; and Gabrielle Caruso, Treasurer. The 2017 Student Council leaders are Riley Meyers, President, and Alexsis Kosko, Vice-President.
The current analysis of the Class of 2017 finds 92% attending college and 8% entering the workforce.
